Story

Last year we lost a great friend Andy after a life long battle with Cystic Fibrosis and after having his second double lung transplant at the age of just 35. As a group of Andy’s friends who were lucky enough to work alongside him we are taking on the Three Peaks Challenge to raise money for the CF Trust, an organisation that was very close to Andy’s heart.

The Three Peaks Challenge is an attempt to climb the highest peaks in Scotland, England and Wales in one go. These peaks are Ben Nevis in Scotland, Scafell Pike in England, and Snowdon in Wales.

Andy was diagnosed with CF at birth, but spent his life defying the odds at every turn. His positive outlook and determination along with the advances in medicine made possible by organisations like the CF Trust allowed Andy to enjoy a good quality of life; enjoying activities and experiences alongside his friends and family despite his condition.

From knowing Andy we have all learnt so much about the condition and the day to day struggles that those who have CF have to go through just to keep going. Andy inspired us every day, he always wore a smile and got on with things, never complaining. Andy was passionate about supporting the CF Trust in raising both money and awareness. We are committed to continuing this work in his memory, by raising money to help other people in Andy’s situation battle this condition.

Cystic fibrosis (CF) is a life-limiting genetic condition affecting more than 10,000 people across the UK. It affects the lungs and digestive system and can cause chronic infections and reduced lung function. Currently, half of those with CF will not live past age 41.The Cystic Fibrosis Trust is fighting for a brighter future for people with CF and their families by funding cutting-edge research, driving up standards of care and supporting people with the condition and their loved ones every step of the way.
